mine was the same when I bought it. The clutch pedal return spring snaps causing the pedal not to return fully up. The cruise control thinks the clutch is pressed and therefore won't engage. You can test it by lifting the pedal (clutch - not brake) with your foot and trying the cruise control. If it is the spring there is a mod - costs about a tenner and takes 5 mins to fit. I have read that a broken spring could leads to premature clutch wear so its best to get it done.

Should be covered by warranty so get your handbrake recall done at the same time!

I agree with the stalk issue, mine plays up a bit. If I press the cruise control to accelerate and slightly pull the stalk towards me as though I am going to flash the main beam, the cruise control switches off suggesting poor connections.

I think the cruise switches get dirty and behave badly. Obviously the VX technician won't clean the switch connectors, they will just change the stalk complete.
