Having had a read of the cars for sale section, there seems to be a lot of optimistic sellers listing cars, please don't take this as a dig if you are one of them, but if you want to sell your car the 1st port is to get a Glass or similar value, there's one on VX website and it's free, for a rough idea, next stop is to visit traders sites on Auto Trader and see what they have and how much they're asking, always remember a trader will beat you every time because he has to offer some sort of backup for his car, where you don't and the buying public knows this, also if you say bought a car for 10 grand 6 mths ago, listing it for 9.2k is a waste of time, when you handed over your 10k and drove off you lost 2k just like that, hth.

When sell time comes, you do have to be realistic - else you won't get a sale.

As with everything, if it won't sell it means the price is wrong for it.

If the Glass guide for my car is £5000, then there are a number of tactics in order to make a sale...

of course I am going to advertise it at £5950
    or
I'm selling at £4800, but I've already got two people interested and I am waiting on one confirming their offer of £5200

I used the latter once and it worked a treat
Had the car advertised at £950
I had more than 20 enquiries and had to stop taking them
Three people looked, wasted my time
One person took it for a drive, offered me £800, bye
The next person asked how many had interest, and I showed him my notepad "holy moly", and offered me £1100, which I said I would agree to subject to other viewings that were due
The second from last person offered £1250, so took that and ran, phoning the other two people up to say "sorry, it's sold"

Yeah, some great auction prices there. I'd go for the '07 520D @ £16k
Unfortunately VV is right - car prices are rock bottom. I know I've lost thousands on mine in just 18 months
And if you try to sell with mods on, it's not easy.

    Totally agree!

No disrespect to any one selling, It's not just the sales on her either, PH & other similar forums are full of over priced motors

and adding mods to the cars adds nothing to the price its allways best to put it back to standard.
