    Hi,

Sorry if this is a bit off thread but what sort of cost are Kwik fit charging for the brakes on a vectra, I like the sound of the 'never buy again'. I will need rear brakes doing before the winter and just wondered.

    Thanks, Mark

You have to ask yourself how many times you will be changing the brake pads.

Mine lasted to 76K miles on rear and 78K miles on front.

So essentially, I changed them for about £47 for both front and rear pads, and I'll never have to change them again - as I will sell it before they need doing again. Disks were OK.

NO sense in paying Kwik-fit that sort of money at all.

I'd done 35,000 spirited miles in the old vec on the same set of discs & pads, and sold it with plenty of friction material still left on front and rear.

I'd rather pay the £65 + VAT and have genuine parts....

I fitted Mintex, and there is no clunk on brake take up. It is normally associated with the pads moving slightly in the carrier and taking up any gaps.

OE pads can be a better fit than cheap 'economy' pads.
