was looking at this a little while ago would love to play... just need some time to learn... anyways came across this site a little while ago was recommended in a forum http://www.guitar.ms/index.php HTH good luck
thanks great stuff , think i need to learn how to play chords first though im brand new at this
Learn the C, F and G chords and you'll be able to play nearly every song out there. Learn A minor and you you'll be able to play the rest.
Seriously I learnt from a book. Anything that shows the chord structures is great. I used this site later.

Use this part of their site to tune the guitar.

and this.

Once you have the basics you can google songs to put the chords into action.
Kids songs are a good way of learning. You'll soon discover that some of the Classic Oasis songs for example use the same chords as, "When the saints go marching in"
I started aged 14 and ended up in a band. Still love playing now.

he got quite a few songs and goes through them very well
Also check out guitar tabs, easy to follow and plenty of free sites with songs. The strings and frets are numbered. Can't really go wrong
So ya wanna be Joe Satch?
1st lesson is strengthen your fingers, this is the fret board hand btw, until you do this you will be **** at it, 2nd lesson is grow nails on your plucking hand, saves a plectrum and is way better, 3rd lesson is listen to what you like and try to remember the chord speed, so if you hear 5 notes all from different strings try to time them for the pluck hand, and then work on which chord on the frets thay are.
