Some of you may know i had problems with my SRi 2.0 Turbo, we replaced valve seals no joy, this was after checking turbo for oil.
Valve seals were worn, ironically Vauxhall have modified the design for the better!
Anyway we ended of demounting the turbo unit and low and behold the oil seals on the cat side had gone, was blowing oil straight into exhaust.
Rang around and was quoted £200 inc vat for service and approx £330 for exchange, both Midland turbos and Turbo technics.
Went for turbo technics, they collected it on a friday, so say 4 day turnround, by the following wed had heard nothing so rang, got a load of waffle about waiting for report,will call you back they said. Come friday still not heard, so called again, got more waffle and was told the core was shot, then the bombshell to recon my turbo was going to be £570 inc vat!
Got off phone and started to ring around, rang vauxhall a NEW non exchange unit was £550, various specialists were coming in at high £400's. Must give credit to AR Turbos in Wakefield, great guys very helpful.
We then looked on ebay and found a guy who used to race the sri had a brand new unit in his workshop, he bought new sri back in 05 and junked standard turbo unit. So I bought it, a brand new Garret turbo with all the bits for wait for £175! plus the cost of petrol to collect.
This was about 2 weeks ago, turbo technics have never rang me back, if they do they will be told where to stick my turbo.
