Default Do I have a DPF?

I have a 1.9 CDTi 150 on a 55 plate and am about to book it in for a service, do I have a DPF?

I am unsure as to what this is but it does affect the type of service I have been informed.

    Thanks guys.

having a DPF does indeed affect servicing...it reduces the interval down to 10,000 miles and you HAVE to use VX's OWN 5w30 fully synth oil..

a quick rough guide.. if you have a signum, or a veccy estate, or an auto it's a 100% yes, you'll have a DPF.. if it's a manual then more than likely not.. if the tailpipe is sooty then you don't , if the tailpipe is clean then you will have one..

I never knew that! Presumably that's only valid for the 1.9 and not the V6??

i beleive it's all DPF equipped vechicles... it's to do with the oil degredation and the sulphur content the oil... hang on, i'll try and scan in some of VX's 'blurb'

thats from the VX blurb.. note the oil quality.. most garages just fill with whatevers cheapest, so beware and ask what they filled it with..

Interesting stuff Mark thankyou! Still can't help wondering if the good the DPF does isn't offset by the damage on the environment caused by increased fuel consumption and more frequent servicing

thing is Dave, like all the ' in service' recommendations, VX don't actually TELL the end user.. they assume that they'll 'be advised' at the service desk of the main dealer.. which, if you don't use them, can lead to 'problems'...case in point, when they reduced the cambelt change intervals on the old 4 cylinder ecotec's.. they didn't contact every owner, they just mentioned it when they saw the car..

TBH, and i know it's covering old ground, just because the book that came with the car says service it every 21,000 or 30,000 miles it shouldn't be taken as the 'best' interval.. the oil degrades from the moment you start using it... I've seen cars where they are so sludged internally because they have followed extended drain intervals to the letter... the extended intervals were only ever aimed at fleet users.. normal motoring means more regular drain intervals..

And back to the original question, yes, the oil is critical to the DPF..when we had a warranty DPF replacement in the old 'rather dodgy 1.9150' that we had we were advised at the time to reduce the drain intervals..
