Default Insurance Cover - Driving other cars

My insurance renewal was good and I was happy with it until I discovered that it specifically EXCLUDES driving other cars (with the owner's permission) with Third Party cover.

I have now changed insurer to a policy that INCLUDES it, and is a few pounds cheaper than my renewal quote. I'm told that Insurers are starting to specifically EXCLUDE this benefit.

Just for info if it is of interest to anyone else. Better safe than sorry. Or rather check your policy as I wasn't told about it before I read it on the Schedule of Cover.

You never know when you might need it. AF wanted another £300 for a policy with it.

Thats a kick in the balls. I'm just interested in who's the cheapest as I'm still paying close to £1k due to being 21

"They"'ve* been doing it for a couple of years now, to my knowledge, so always worth checking.

*Generalisation; I can't remember specific companies.

Yeah I learnt that last year the hardway!

I was with Norwich union then switched to swift(cheaper) and when I came to have a service on the siggy I asked for a courtesy car and they told me swift insure dont insure courtesy cars. Which is a joke as you need to get your car serviced.

So i sat in costa coffee southport all morning doing my work waiting for the phone call!

Cheap doesnt mean like for like anymore.
