Default JCT600 Come Up Good Again....

Following on from THIS thread, my car went in for its MOT this morning.

While I was there waiting for my courtesy car I asked the service guy how much a cambelt change would cost (fully expecting to tell him to do one!)? He looked at my records and said "£79.99 all in" I said "You must have heard me wrong.. how much to actually change it not supply only?"
"£79.99 all in, because your car is still in warranty Vauxhall will pay for all other parts except for the belt"

Again needless to say I am having it done today!!!

On my way out I asked how much it would have cost if I had booked it in next week (after my warranty runs out) he said "£230ish..."

Really glad I asked now..... what a fantastic garage JCT600 Bradford is!!

    Chris.

Nice one, I must remember that. I must check what the cambelt change schedule is for my engine. Hoping it's 40K as I'll easily pass that before the warranty is up in June!

    Guys,

Do the various Vx dealers charge differently for an 'in warranty' cambelt replacement, and does this apply to all other work carried out during the first 3 years? I guess what I'm asking is, do Vx carry out work labour free for the 1st 3 years?

Ok, I'm gonna quit before I confuse myself,

    Cheers,

    Paul

Every time I have had warranty work done it has been totally FOC. I know that some dealers try to charge you to have a look at whats wrong to decide if its covered under warranty or not but thats never happened to me either.. <touchwood>
I'm not sure what the £80 covers for the Cambelt change in warranty... I can't see that that is the price for just the belt??!!

    Thanks Chris,

I'm just a bit surprised that they are willing to do work that isn't covered under warranty so cheaply. I always assumed that you would pay full price for any work outside of the warranty, even while the warranty is still active. Just trying to work out if this is a loophole worth exploiting....

    Cheers,

    Paul
