Does anybody know if Insurance companies have access to the information contained at the DVLA about a persons licence?

Does anybody know if Insurance companies have access to the information contained at the DVLA about a persons licence?

The Accident Management Company managing my claim on behalf of my insurer put me onto a conference call with the DVLA last week so that the DVLA could get my authority to release details of my licence. This was for the Hire car. The guy at the DVLA then read them out. Obvioulsly this covers them under the Dara Protection Act.

Don't know about the insurance company themselves but if they don't they would follow a similar process I imagine.

Only if you need to arrange a hire car or you make a full vehicle claim

If you make any other type of claim then no licence information is required

Yes they do. Well they do now anyway.. it also works the other way round as well. Thats why when you get your road tax online you do not have to show insurance, they can check it if your legally insured themselves.
