    Default 1.9CDTi Tuning Box

After reading the several latest threads on tuning boxes i am very confused as to which one to buy.

There seems to be a lot of contradicting advice on which box to use and what bhp is classed as 'safe'.

What i am looking for is an increase in power but with an increase in economy as well. Lots of members have quoted how outrageous their fuel computers can be once a box is fitted.

Can anyone give me any sound advice please?

Hi m8, There are a lot of threads as you say and the only advice i can offer is stated in this thread...http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5316
The engines and gearboxes are safe as the boxes are within the tolerance of what they are capable of handling as long as they are not thrashed 24/7. No engine will handle that treatment.
As for fuel economy, all the trip computers will read slightly out compared to standard. I drive mine with a "slightly" heavy right boot and get mid 40's combined. On a run, high 40's to low 50's using refueling to measure acurately. Trip computer on mine is about 3-4 mpg out.
My fuel economy has not really changed due to me making more use of the extra power. You really can't help it!!!!! HTH.

As above mate. Whatever box you get will still give you a decent increase in power.

If your budget can stretch to it there are companies offering re-maps on the CDTi's now.

Well said guys there are a few on the market which offer a decent increase in power.

On earlier 1.9 engines the gearboxes are a weak link though. Should all be covered by warranty.

Thanks Caterman for the thread link.

I had shortlisted my choice to the Powerklick or CR1 tuning box as i want to be able to remove it but became a little confussed with the recent threads.

Can you get discount on either of the above tuning boxes through vectra-c.com???
