Default 2.2 DTI SRi "pull" on the turbo?

I have just bought an 03 2.2 SRi DTI, with 28K on the clock.
there are several 1.8 and 2.0 dti cars at work which i drive, and when the turbo kicks in it really pulls, like back in your seat,

however, in my new car, the turbo doesnt really seem to pull. Dont get me wrong it accelerates quick enough, but just feels like its not got a turbo on it, any ideas?

    cheers.

I have never had a diesel before, so im not really sure. When you start it there is a quick puff of black smoke?

I just would have thought youd really feel the kick on a 2.2Litre engine

The power range in from around 2-3000rpm. I found it strange when i got my 2.2 dti. I change around 3100rmp when i need to get away quick. hits the turbo spot on in the next gear. try that and see if you find it any better

Maybe you were expecting a bit much from the 2.2's turbo, i'm pretty sure if the turbo wasn't working as it should you would get an engine management light notice on the dash.
Pop the bonett & get someone to rev it while you look at the turbo & listen to it too.

Mayb its the fact that the 2.2 has a variable vain turbo so basically boosts from 0. so you were expecting a thump of boost but in reality your just getting it constantly

Exactly, the 2.2 DTi does have a very linear power delivery, until about 4500 when you'll notice it drop off as the turbo has done all it can and you need a new gear.
