Default time for a new job?

i have a decision to make, and would like to know you opinions guys
currently i am a class 2 truck driver, i work 6 days on and 2 days off, and every 5 weeks i get 4 days off over a weekend, my start times vary each day and lately have been doing 10+ hours a day
you may already know, but due to my job i did my back in and have been off work for 6 months recovering, part of my return to work was agreed upon certain things to help me back into work, but so far all they have done is to muck me about (my first day back was over 13 hours, yet it was agreed that i would be kept to duties around 8 hours ish to start with)
a job has come up working for tate and lyles (the sugar people) working monday to friday, on a 3 shift roatation
trouble is it is just over 200 a month less
should i stick where i am and see if it sorts itself out? or go for the tates job on less money, but 8 hours a day mon-friday and no weekends
would be interested in what all you have to say

200 notes is 200 notes, having said that if T&L want you to do as much overtime as the current one that 200 quid will reappear.

Who do you work for at the moment??

£200 is £200, or £50 a week, whatever way you roll it or shape it its gonna hurt taking that pay cut..

    However...

Can you recoup that £50 a week??
How much closer is Tate and Lyle to you??
    What are the overtime opportunities??
Are you weekends really worth a £50 a week pay cut??

The good thing wiht T&L is that most of it is Tanks, and as far as i know H&S dictae you dont get ontop of the tank to open the lids anymore, so you wil be doing next to nothing, which is good for you as far as your back is concerned.

BTW, 6 on 2 off is illegal on a Technicality..I would not be doing that, if you get a ****y Vosa bloke he will nick you for it
(Tacho working weeks runs 0000hrs Sunday to Sunday, You must take a 45hour break within this time frame, and working days you dont get 45 hours off in the working week, it spans 2 working weeks. Although some people will allow you to get away with it, it is actually illegal)

thanks for the comments guys, i think i am going to go for it, i cant stand it where i am now, its getting beyond a joke, i just needed to air my thoughts i guess and you guys have helped me decide
Ben, i currently work for British Bakeries which is about 8 miles away, T&L is about 15, going to look at trading my 1.8 in for a diesel to help with the fuel costs
the last 6 months i have been on 70% sick pay, so have been living on £400 a month less, i dont think a pay cut of £200 a month would be that bad
i wont be driving for them, but being a machine operator maintainer, once i am in there though i have been told you can move about so who knows what will be in the future
again thanks for your views guys

Ah 200 a month, I thought you said week, if it's just 50 a week to lose I think the new job will outweigh the money tbh.

You can always inform T&L that you have the HGV licence and if anything comes of it your onto a winner. See how it go's in the operator/maintainer bit.
