Default Pre-Reg Clio for my sister

Just been looking around at some garages for a car for my sister.

    We've seen a pre-reg clio for £6988.

It was a 1.4 petrol came with alloys, cd player, air con, met paint etc

registered Dec 05 so nearly 3 years warranty.

My dad does the rounds at the garages taking pictures of the cars for their web-sites. so he'll prob get a few hundred quid knocked off.

but is this a good price, what are the general thoughts on this car, also can you guys recommend any alternatives ?

    It's a Renault!

Can't comment on the purcahse price, I can tell you the Renault after sales and servicing is appauling. I hade the choice of a Renault or a Vauxhall. I'm in a Renault on loan at the moment. A colleague is selling his after 6 months, I'm not keeping this one and my wifes has started to fall apart after 6 months. They look good and drive well. Great hire cars, But I would buy one!

Had a Laguna Sports Tourer Dynamique Techno DcI 120 (Longest ever car name?). I'd echo the above. Nice to drive, interior made of recycled pop bottles, built by babboons, mechanically OK but I had 3 gearboxes in 50k miles, serviced by chimps and customer service manned by marmasets.

    Other than that they're fine.

    Echoing all the above..

Renault are a dream whilst you are buying a car.. Then they don't want to know you.. Worst aftersales i've ever come across..

aye the laguna is a nice looking car, and at first glance more classy overall than a vectra, but once you've been in 1 for a half an hour, or fixed a good few, like I have, you realise they are awful, specced full of stuff you dont actually need, and basically they put the stuff in the cars without actually thinking about the best way to do it, hence loads of stuff goes wrong.

just the car cant cope with the amount of electrics it has to deal with, same as the citroen c5

the megane and clio tho are reliable, and you Suj with experience of arnold clark aftersales will know what to expect from them with the clio (the 88 on the price gave it away) rather than how renault overall are bad for aftersales.

mates mum and my cousin have had 4 between them, not a hint of a major problem in 3 years
