    Default Vista Opinions

I constantly read ppl slagging this O/S off, a lot of the negatives are from ppl who don't even own it, I've had it over a year now and I can't find any real fault in it, ok Nero 6 doesn't work and neither does PowerDVD 5/6, well 6 will run with warnings, the confirmation does my head in a bit but can be switched off anyway, I think it's just become one of those things that ppl slate for the sake of it.

    Opinions?

Everyone I know including someone who repairs pc's and builds them hates vista.
Personally me and a few mates play alot of call of duty online on the pc , and for some reason it does'nt seem as compatible as xp , crashes etc.
I think it may just be a case of better the devil you know in my opinion.
I def won't be using vista in the foreseeable future.

p.s - I know this is a bit off topic but where is gsi 3.2 ? , I have'nt been on as much over the last few weeks as I normally do , and he's never on line , is he away or somethin ? I need his advice on something ?

Run mine for almsot a year and only problems I've had have been with bad RAM causing BSOD's. As an Operating System I think it's great - only bought it as I was building a new PC and needed a new Operating system, and I've found it's got lots of great features.

Played a huge amount of COD4 online and never had a problem, and not had any driver issues either.

    And I'm running the 64bit version - and 8GB of 8500 RAM...

Not a problem with it here. Early adopter, x64 Home Premium.

Vista's success depends on how good your drivers are, which basically means your PC needs to support it properly. I run a totally nVidia machine (nV graphics, nV motherboard) and have had good results.

I have Vista on my Laptop, but I still have XP-Pro on my desktop, I did try vista on the main m/c but I found Nero 6&7 would'nt work, same problem with PowerDVD 6 etc. and as I still play quite a few games.... yes even at my age I went back to Vista. However I may give it another go in the near future again. Anyone using the 64bit version of Vista? How do you find it, any issues running stuff, I know there used to be a shortage of drivers but I assume that has probably improved now.

    My current spec.
    Intel Duo 2 E6850 & Asus P5k Premuim AP/Wi/Fi
    8800GTX
    1TB Samsung F1 h/drive + burners.
    2 x 2gb fast mem.
    Corsair 1000w P/S
    Dell 2407HC monitor.

But thinking about upgrading the video card again to ATI's 4870 you have to have your toys.
So what do you think... XP or Vista ? Also would you say the later Quads are worth going to from my 6850 would the gains be worth it.
