I think that with alloys, painting the calipers is a must. Whats the point of having hundreds of pounds worth of beautiful wheels if your calipers are minging. With my car being silver, I think I am just gonna do the calipers to match actually, maybe gold if i can find a subtle shade, like the goldy colour of new calipers.
Never been a fan of painting calipers as I think in a lot of cases they look a bit naff. To carry it off, in my opinion, it's dependent on a number of things e.g. wheel size, spoke style and disc size (and their relative size to each other). I've seen too many "whadya think of my painted calipers" posts (usually B's iirc) and most of them have looked naff!!
I'd say leave as standard.....or take pic of your car side on, with a closer up view of the front and rear wheels, and I'll photoshop red, blue and black calipers for you so that people can vote based on what they see. Position the wheels to show maximum caliper.
You may have good enough pics already so zip them over to me - reasonable size and I'll size them down.

I must say i've been trolling through some pics of other cars and think i am going to save up and get a brake upgrade when they need replaced with new calipers and bigger better discs/pads.agree that it can look a bit tacky though in some cases not too bad but tbh with my standard wheels you cant see much of them anyway.
I agree as well that with more open spoke alloys and bigger ones the brakes do need something to brighten them up
i'll get some pics tomorrow hopefully and zip them to you. cheers.

mine are done in a satin dark grey. I didnt want anything to stand out but wanted to paint over the rust. It hides the brake dust really well too.
I think Black would look very good on your motor mate, without being too tacky.
mine are blue but are a pig to clean
i think if you keep to dark colours ie. not red/yellow/ blue then they will look clean and tidy but not overdone
