Angry Cruise Control up the spout :(

Hi all, my cruise control suddenly stopped working, it was ok on the way to the shops but nothing on way back (typical the week before my holidays ), I've had none of the speed up symptoms others seem to have had it simply refuses to turn on. I've read a few posts on here and tried the 'lifting the brake/clutch pedal' trick but no luck.

I've also read that removing the stalk and spraying/cleaning the connectors may help - is the stalk easy to remove? I'm pretty technical minded but don't want to go at it with a hammer if you know what I mean

Can it only be the stalk or the pedal switches or is there a relay etc? I've seen a couple of replacement stalks on eBay for about £30, anyone know how much Vx charge for one?

Oh yeah and it's just out of warranty - ain't that a shocker

    Thanks all

    Dave

My switch on the stalk does play up sometimes -a good hard prod seems to sort it out.

Fitted a new stalk just this week to my wife's Signum - you just pull the stalk out, carefully but does need some effort. I also saw a £30 second-hand stalk on eBay, but bought it from a main dealer for £33 inc VAT (although it's not a Trade Club item they reckoned).

You have pressed the brake pedal haven't you - it will only work once the brakes have been used.

Mine some time splays up, a quick few firm presses of the rocker switch up and down usually sorts it. Probably dirty contacts that i'll get round to cleaning one day.

If the CC won't engage with either up or down of the rocker switch, and the clutch and brake switches are working OK, then it may be a bit more serious.

Quick update, I removed the stalk to find the white lubricating grease/compound had contaminated the metal connectors.

I cleaned them off and the CC is working again now.

    Thanks all

    Dave
