    Question Dead mice?

How long does it take for a dead mouse to go stiff?
Sick question I know but, I found one lying on the carpet of my loft thismorning and I swear it was not there last night! It was not warm but very floppy. I've caught these before with mousetraps and they have always been pretty solid and cold. By the way I don't have a dirty house, the wife is always cleaning(and complaining about my mess) but we live next to a field and the farmer has been harvesting.

Think it takes about a day for Rigor Mortis to set in.

A few hours for a mouse - but don't forget that rigor normally only sets in for a limited period of time, then the body will go limp again. I don't know the specifics for mice, but I'd reckon that it had been there for a little while seeing as it was limp but not warm.

I had one earlier today, right outside the front door. I think it has been a plaything for our cat.
