    Default 1.9 CDTi Servicing Query

    Good morning all

My 55 plate has now done over 60k miles now and outside of warrantee. I am considering taking it to a small local garage for it's next service. Are these modern diesel engines straight forward to service and within the capabilities of a small garage? I know several of you do your own servicing and repairs but I don't if you are already in the trade.

Would I have to specify the oil to be used, especially as the car seems to be on flexi service intervals? Would a small garage be capable of replacing the cambelt on this engine? By the way what is the cambelt change interval on this engine?

Thanks in advance 'cause I know you're a helpful bunch.

    Brian

Most garages are capable of servicing most modern cars mate, just as long as you trust them to do a good job, think the cambelt needs changing at 100k,i think......

Servicing modern cars is a POP, anyone with half a brain can change oil filter and oil, and kick the tyres. Personally, I would stick with genuine VX parts, ie oil and filter, as they are designed for the car and are not expensive.

Yes, 100K published interval for belt on CDTi

Thanks for your help so far; can you tell me which oil I should be looking at having put in this engine?

    Cheers.

Oil as specified in handbook is 5W30 synthetic. Not the cheapest but I'm on 83000 miles now and the cars never missed a beat so it must do the job.

    5W-30 fully synthetic oil.

and that you've left it till 100k without a cambelt change! Get it done, quickly!

Paul he has done 60 k miles and asking when it should be done. He has been advised to do it at 100 k miles like it say's in the book.

A small garage will do it no problem's. And at a much cheaper price

    Quick Note**

I actually rang Greenhous Vauxhall today to enquire on cambelts.

    I have a 56 1.9CDTI-120 and was advised 10Years or 80'000miles

At a cost of £320 all in.

My service book also says 80'000 i think the 100'000 is for the ribbed belt not the toothed(cambelt)
