Default rust on 4 year old car!

    hi all,

after a quick check around the car i noticed some bubbled paint and rust on the inside lip of the boot, its on the underside so it isnt noticible but am quite surprised to find it!

could anyone recommend a good treatment to use? its only a small area and am not bothered about it being colour matched as you never see it unless you look for it

i saw some rust treatments on halfords but i don't know if they are any good.... any advice welcome

Take it to VX under the anti perforation warranty. Don't do anything to it yourself yet.

They'll only entertain a claim on that if the car has had the bi-yearly anti-perforation check and the relevant page in the service book filled in and stamped. It's something they (the dealer) will do free at the same time as a service, or chargeable if you ask them to do it separately.

It is all laid out in the service booklet in the Anti-Perforation Warranty section, most folks won't bother to read it though and only find out they aren't covered if they come to try and make a claim.

hmmm well i have just checked my service booklet and it had the first anti-perforation part is stamped and dated when the car was a year old...

looks like the dealer didn't stamp that section when they carried out the second service last year when i purchased it...

i will have to give them a call tomorrow and see what they can do i guess

See if they'll back-stamp it. The anti-perforation inspection only needs to be done every two years, so sounds like you may be okay if I've understood your dates correctly?
