Default cant get my inlet manifold off!!!

hi guys, i've got a 2.2 direct petrol vectra and the inlet manifold has gone up the swanny, so i thought i'd take it off..

took off the egr pipe, loads of electrical bits and bobs, the throttle body etc and the manifold was full of gross black sludge and oily slop.

so i carried on removing stuff but can take the manifold off!

the dipstick is in the way for a start!

    what do i do?

Good luck and let us know how you get on Curly, I have the Direct engine in mine and might think about getting all that cleaned up as a preventative measure.

if i were you, i would take the throttle body off, which i easy peasy, pull out the direction pipe inside the inlet manifold and clean that and inside the manifold as best you can, cos mine was well gunked up!

also, ask Vauxhall to sell you an egr blanking plate, and have the ecu re-programmed not to use the egr valve, it will stop the black soot and crap going into the manifold.. you'll know what i mean when you take that direction pipe out!!

just be careful not to drop anything into the manifold, cos it looks well deep!

Not all 2.2's can have the egr tech 2'd out!

I think it is only possible on the earlier models, non-direct, but I could be wrong.

ahhh! my car is all sorted now!!

the EGR valve can be tech 2'd out, i had a blanking plate put on mine, and the new manifold doesn't have the egr valve hole in it either, so the egr valve and pipe went straight in the bin!

it is so much better without it! and now i dont need to worry about all that black sooty oily crap going into the engine!

i'd recommend having the egr valve removed and blanked off to anyone..

they are the spawn of satans sweaty jock strap if you ask me!
