Default limp mode+sort of usual problem 2.0dti

Had my first spanner light plus car to limp mode occurence today. Happened while overtaking up hill on the M25 after driving some 35 miles carried on for a few more miles to see if it would reset itself .
noticed when under load car was leaving its own smoke screen .carried on for a few miles to see if it would clear itself but to no avail.
Pulled into services switched engine off then back on again engine spooled up normally car has been fine all day also noticed since limp mode fuel consuption has improved usually 43-45 on a motorway run after occurence 50-52 has anyone any ideas as to what happened here.

It may have just had a "moment". But I'd check all the hoses for leaks as thats normally the first failing on the 2.0 and 2.2 dti's. Its also very easy to check.

yeah i had trouboe with limp mode on my 2.0dti, after several trips to the garage it was a split hose pipe in the engine, something to do with the turbo???? Sorry not mechanically minded, but it was a hose!!!

Na wishful thinking, cars going from bad to worse keeps droping into limp mode even after changing connectors checked all the other hoses can not find any cracks or splits.
Spanner light does not illuminate now when she fails but i do have a permanent exhaust gases warning light up .

Going into limp mode under load is a classic sign of a gunged up boost sensor.
    Try having a read here.

OK back from stealers had it tech 2ed engineer cleared all current fault codes

    what he listed was
po234 sym 5b boost pressure sensor
po110 sym07 intake air temp censor
po638 throttle control circuit negative deviation
    po400 egr flow excessive
    po100 (air flow censor)
po380 glow device circuit low voltage
po105 sym03 boost pressure circuit low input

now some of these codes are unrellated so can anyone decifer what the real problem is

The Egr is pretty easy to find, just follow the charge hose from the intercooler into the upper intake manifold. where the molding of the upper intake manifold bends downward, look just below and you will see a black round body a little larger than a D type battery, it should have a grey plastic cover on the left hand side of it, and has 2 coolant hoses going in to it, one from below, one from above. ( The EGR on the 2.0DTi's are different than the one in the EGR "how to" which I believe is off a CDTi )

This is the EGR actuater, you can pry off the grey cover and see the little actuater mech' but to see if it is full of crud you need to take the EGR off.

To remove the EGR you will need to remove the coolant hoses, undo the 2 torx bolts holding it on, and just wiggle it out. It does have a little rubber sealing ring that MAY have to be replaced, it didnt need it on mine though.

    Hope this helps,

    Tim
