Angry Gear stick has started going pop!!

    Hi Guys,

Recently my gear stick has started making a popping noise every time i push down on it. I notice it everytime I change gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really annoying, should this be a warranty job or will I have to pay out for a new one. I think its just the glue on the head of the gear knob is now loose and it has room to move. Really irritated by it.its a march 2006 motor 1.9cdti with just shy of 50k on it. I know its high miles but I had a cavalier for 6 years(J reg 1.8 4 pot sohc carb engine) and the fundamental stuff never went wrong like the Bleeding gear knob!!

    Any ideas?

i would have thought they would do it under warranty you are still in the conditions of a warranty!! it wont hurt to take it down and see what they say

My dealer said that the gear knob isn't under warranty because it is afacia item not a mechanical item. My dealer hamered mine back on and CRACKED THE TOP really ****ed me off. Get some glue and stick it on mate, thats the easiest thing to do.

I think I`d be forced to beat the mechanics head back on with a hammer if they try that crap with my motor.

I`ll head down and see them next week. Really good vx dealers I use actually.

They have done a couple of warranty fixes for me and have been really helpful.

    Default dodgy knob!

Hi Mate mine did exact same it will get worse and worse so just give it a good put or tap it slightly from underneath and it will come off its just sat on a splined shaft.
10p worth of blue tack and bash it back on, hot had any more bother with mine since!

As above, trim only covered in the first year of warranty, if you have a very good relationship with your dealer they may try wiggling it for you but unlikely they will be successful.
I just stuck mine back on with a thump after it came off in my hand and it been fine ever since. Adding blutack as Pete says sounds like a good idea.
