Default LCD Monitor with digi tuner Vs TV

The portable died after 10 years of loyal service and I am looking to replace it.

I was looking at TVs in the 19 – 22 inch range and noticed that LCD Monitors with digi TV tuners seem to be cheaper than LCD TVs.
Looking on Amazon the Samsung SM2032MW (20” – £202.62) and a LG 22” for £237.23 get good reviews.

Are there any issues with going down the Monitor with tuner route?

Our portable died last weekend. Ended up buying a Goodmans 19" LCD with tuner from Comet (£179.99). Got to say its a lot better than the old 14 incher.

The problem is the aerial, if you live in a good reception area then all will be fine. Unfortunately we don't don't so a aerial may have to be purchased. Picture quality a lot better though.

Reception is pretty good, sending sky and aerial channels to upstairs bedroom. The Monitor (with tuner) route looks to be the cheapest option - was hoping to get a samsung or LG.

The monitor also seems to give you a better option in terms of connections

The monitor is the best buy, I got an LG one from PCW about 2 yrs ago, cost 180 notes and has all a tv has plus dvi and other inputs that the tv doesn't.

    Hi VV,

I've decided to go the monitor route (defo seems the best option on various counts, like all the connection options) - looking about for the best deal
