Default Taxi fare's in your area

Being a cabbie myself i was just wondering how much taxi fares are where you live

Where i live i shall start with private hire, but this was like 2 years ago & they have gone up a little now i think it's £3.50 for the first mile.

When you got in a private hire cab, this is based at the office i worked for at the time, it was £3 up to the first mile, then 10p for every .1 of a mile so say you travelled 1.5 miles the fare would be £3.50, if you went 4 miles the fare would be £6 etc

In my black cab now we have just had a fare increse

    Before it was £2 6am - 8pm then £2.40 8pm - 6am & the meter ticked over 20p every 147 yards

Once the fuel hit £1 a litre at a certain garage in the city we would add 10p onto the fare for every 10p rise on a litre on fuel!

Now with the fare rise its £2.50 6am - 7pm then £3 7pm - 6am but from saturday night at midnight we add 50p for a sunday charge till midnight sunday night.
The meter now ticks at 30p every 400 yards & we dont add any 10p's on until the fuel hit's £1.30 a litre.

Might sound complicated but was just wondering how different the rates vary across the country

Just had one ourselves, antiquated fares still though

    2 became 2.20 6am-10pm

    2.50 became 2.60 10pm-6am

End result of having ultra cheap PH company in town, for some reason the powers feel they have to remain competitve against them, me I think it's horse****.

Blimmey that is cheap for private hire! How many firm's are there in your area & do you have seperate hackney cab's or are they all the same plate's? We have green plate for private hire & white plate's for hackneys.

    chester private hire............
    minimum fares
    0600 - midnight £3 up to 1 mile
    midnight - 0600 £4.20 up to 2 miles
    No increase since Dec '06
Dont know about the hacks, but they have had a fare increase reputed to be about 14%,

The question I have is ....who earns more p.h or hacks??

As far as I can work out, that is all the tarrifs for the UK

Cheapest is North Lanarkshire, where I live!
    Next is Stirling

As for who earns more, definitely hackney owner/drivers
I've done a few tax returns and some are well into the £00,000s

Thats not PH, thats the HC tariff, average PH fare compared to me is about 1.50 cheaper and even more outside boundries cos they don't charge for that either, used to be about 18 firms in town until about ten yrs ago, there's 5 now, and the cheap firm kept buying up the others, and we still get ppl whining on about it's too dear.
