Default Twin Headrest DVD Units Recoloured and Installed

Following on from Shan's twin install I bought the same kit.....but bought in light grey and found it didn't match the car. So the plan was to recolour the leather to match the anthracite trim of my car. Quite please with the results......

    Twin DVD Kit as bought

    Attachment 11405

Clouse up of the unit (Its actually a Sony DVD Player !)

    Attachment 11408

The leather was top quality. Not a fake vinyl / leather

    Attachment 11409

Commencement of stripping out DVD unit(s)...4 screws to remove

    Attachment 11410

And the inside....another 4 screws and a large bolt for the headrest bracket

    Attachment 11411

All done ready for the dye

    Attachment 11412

The kit cost £40 from furniture clinic (Very helpful people who colour matched a dye to the original cloth trim)

    http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leather_Colourant_Kit.htm

    Attachment 11413

First two coats of dye applied with a sponge

    Attachment 11414

Then a few coats of the dye applied with an airbrush (included in the kit). I built a stand to hold the headrests.

    Attachment 11415

Finally a few coats of leather laquer / finisher, then reinstall the DVD unit(s) and install into the car.

Matt - So did I..............especially when I put them in the car, wired them up and they wouldn't work. Warranty definately void ! Fortunately I had the positive and negative wrong way round ! Who would have thought brown was negative and black was positive. I'm very happy with the recolouring. The fact that you can change any colour to any other colour is a big advantage with the product. I would highly recommend the product.

Fortunately they are just up the road from me.

I did find a retrimmer, but they wanted £130+vat. I had to send them the headrests, a piece of fabric trim, etc. Shame he wouldn't just sell the fabric to me.

Anyone know where to get Vauxhall fabric. Vauxhall don't sell it
