Default CR1 Fuel Consumption... for those of you that are interested

    Well the results are in...

For those of you that asked about the CR1 fuel economy......

Just back from my Ireland trip with the newly fitted Diagnostix CR1 diesel tuning box.

When fitted the car had only 4000 miles on it and was a standard 150bhp SRi 1.9 CDTi

The Diagnostix CR1 tuning box was then turned anti-clockwise to 20 turns (1 turn down from maximum for this engine). This in theory should release around 190bhp - 380nm torque (guessing as it hasnt been rolling roaded).

I made the mistake of fueling with regular diesel and not the Optimax Diesel that I wanted (mainly due to it being out of stock and my car was really low so I had to fill up for the trip) - wont make that mistake again.

So covering 573.6 miles (before refueling and computer telling me I had 45 miles left) and then filling up with 56.62 litres means that I it produced 45 mpg with the CR1 box tuned at 190 bhp (approx)

Driving was a split mix of motorways & country lanes....

Hi Grumpano, no smoke that I wouldnt naturally expect from a new diesel anyway.... Seemed to behave itself really well. I'm a bit paranoid about this sort of thing so have been listening for any odd rattles, pops, squeeks or signs of smoke, clutch slip etc etc.

All I can see is that I now get torque steer in 2nd and it really flies now..

Only thing I have noticed is that you definatelly need Optimax Diesel. If you put standard Diesel it feels lethargic in comparison... at first I thought it was me, getting used to the power... But having refueled with Optimax Diesel there is definately a performance difference. Wont make this mistake again..

Nice one.I'm thinking of getting one, just for the extra torque for towing. Its just that i'm a bit worried it will effect the smooth running of the car,or cause damage.

I can honestly say the extra torque is addictive... however I have noticed that my engine doesnt seem as smooth as it used to be... but, It feels more powerful (if that makes sense) rather than damaged (Its hard to explain, but the engine seems more raunchier). The torque really drives the car forward hard now....

A friend of mine recently commented that the power upgrade really made the car, after he drove it for about an hour...

I'm really pleased with it, but will keep you posted at the first sign of anything worrying.... (if it ever happens)
