    Default Job/Life advice!?

I have seen a new job - with the company I currently work for, Iam looking for any advice from fellow members who work across a similar distance - with family(wife and kids) etc and how they make it work(or not?)

I live in Lancashire and the job would involve daily travel across stores from Dumfries across to Middlesborough the whole of Scotland and about 7 stores in Northern Ireland.
    About 160 in total

This is my ideal job, but my wife aint so keen on it........

    advice please!!

Would it mean time away from home or would you get back home each night?

Try it. At the end of the day, it would always look good on a CV, even if it didn't neccessarily work out this time around.

If you really want it then ask her to let you try it, opportunities dont come along everyday. If it doesnt work out then you can try and back track. I have been in similar situations in the past, the times you are at home are more important and you have to make time for the wife and kids.

One note though, if your wife is going to be overloaded because you arent there to share the burden then she will get really down about it.

I'm a Field Service Engineer for a catering equipment firm and my area covers most of Wales, the M6 corridor from J12 to Carlisle covering all of Liverpool, Greater Manchester, North Derbyshire, Lancashire etc
I normally do over 200 miles a day, 4 or 5 calls and my first call can be 2 hours away. It was today actually

I do get paid from when i leave the house until i step back through the door so the money is rewarding as my last job was 37.5 hours salaried pay with no overtime. I normally do around 9-10 hours a day and don't drive too fast as the longer it takes to get to site the more i get paid

If the wife isn't keen, find a solicitor now, and a gumshoe, and a bedsit, cos thats where it will end up I'm afraid, I have enough trouble with mine just working nights locally.
