noise from engine

1.8 sri 55 plate....got a tinny noise from my engine its seems to be @ the left hand side of engine @ the belt..The stealer want £ 40 to look @ it. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT...

the only thing I can think of is the water pump ?

without hearing the noise I can only guess. I would have thought that if the belt was on its way out/wearing it would not be a tinny noise, but i have heard a water pump on the way out, & thats near the belt. but as I have said I can only guess, & I am not a mechanic! perhaps someone on here can offer better advice...could the noise be coming from the tensioners ?

Mine was making a similar noise I thought it was the aircon compressor until I got a garage to remove the aux belt it turned out to be the waterpump

how can the stelers find this out as im takeing it to them on saturday and would like to know a bit before i go ?does it get louder after a few weeks or just stay the same? thanks

Im presume as they want £40 just to look at it you car is not under warranty...so i would avoid the stealers unless you have £ to burn..

Cobblers, You've found a fault with your car, it's under warranty, it needs looking at and should be free of charge. Tell them to shove their £40.
