Default newby with a problem already!!!

    hello all!!

i have a 2.2 SRI direct auto, and ih keeps going into limp home mode!

i have had it plugged in at the VX garage down the road and they have diagnosed the manifold being at fault with a stuck bit inside it.

also a fuel rail sensor giving a low reading.

is the manifold a common problem? can i just squirt some carb cleaner up its hole to free the stuck bit or will i need to buy a whole new one for £500?

    help!!

    cheers,

    CURLY

Sounds like the same problem I had on my old 2.2 direct, luckily for me it was under warranty.

They did fix it short term but in the end the whole manifold and a new valve had to go in.

I may be wrong and another guy offers a bit more help.

    Good luck

Try cleaning the egr valve and the throttle body, throttle body will be at the end of the black pipe from the air meter/box and sitting on the manifold, clean this right out and also pay attention to the small hose running to it also, this gets gunked up, the egr valve iirc *please correct me* should be somewhere to the right side of the engine as you look at it at about cyl head level.

The joys of having the none direct 2.2.. no swirl valve. VV you can just disconnect the EGR on the 2.2 and just blank in off and hang it off the block. Or pay VX £50 to tech 2 it out, and you are correct about the location. Just hope the low pressure isn't down to the pump or that's in the £1000's, again something the slightly different SE doesn't have to worry about.

EDIT: sorry, Welcome to the club mate.

Try a new fuel filter as well, if this is blocked up it will cause low pressure.

if it was the pump, would it come up on the fault diagnosis thing?

how come they are so expensive too?

Yep the direct does have a egr which in mine was goosed, the pump went shortly after but you'll know when that goes as the is no power at all.

The nuggets at VX who replaced the EGR valve also knocked one of the injectors which are a one shot install and waited for three weeks for new ones from the EU.

Hopefully youve only got the egr problem and mine was a one off dud.
