    Default engine is idle then speed then idle like its struggling to stay in idle

    ok my 1.8 ls 16valave 03 plate vectra is idleing rather spluttery like itsstruggling to stay idle and drops the revs then speeds up to get bck to idle if that makes sence any ideas?

    Sounds like the Air control valve to me. Might need cleaning with some "carb" spray.
    PS I take it the air filter is clean.

    air filter is new the censor on top ot the front of theengine looks to go in to a bit of exhaust or somet that was checked and replaced still same were is this other sencore ur on about if its on the plastic where the air filter goes then again changed already .

    Throttle body needs cleaning, it's where the air feed from the airbox finally goes 'into the engine' ie, on the intake manifold. Remove the air pipe and clean inside with a toothbrush and a little petrol and then wipe out with a lint free rag. Open and close the butterfly too and clean it too.

    Another thing to check, as I found out yesterday when mine (1.8 / 53 plate) was at the dealers - is the pipe marked wth the circle in the following pictures.






    It only has a small bore & can block up, check pipe & hole in throttle body.

    For anyone that had a cavalier 2.0 ecotec, it's the same thing as that stupid fitting that used to block up under throttle body - cylinder head side.
