Default Wired up my tow bar yesterday

Fitted the towbar a while ago, but never got round to do the electrics.
Until yesterday, wired it up quite easily. Didn't use VX adaptor or need tec2 or anything else.

Took the indicators straight from the back of the light clusters on each side (no buzzer as I seem to have 'lost' it - easy to fit when I find it)

The tail light I took from the number plate lights through a relay to both trailer socket tail lights, there is a connector on the rear bulkhead behind the plastic panel. These number plate lights operate on full 12V and can easily operate a relay as well.

Stop lights were taken from the high level brake light as it is 12 V - again through a relay.

The normal tail / stop lights operate on reduced voltage for tail and full 12 V for stop. This proved unsatisfactory to operate a relay.

Power for relays was taken from the rear fuse board behind left hand side boot panel, justput a spade terminal on the wire and pushed it into a free fuse slot on the power side, put a fuse inline.

Took a couple of hours to wire up and make good, best of all it cost nothing and I have no bulb failure warning on.

Works a treat. Who said it couldn't be done ??? and would throw the bulb failure light on? To be sure, I was relieved it all worked properly.

Nice one - I had already figured the eye-level brake light may work but I hadn't thought of using the number plate illumination for the sidelights.. I was going to try playing around trying varios feeds this afternoon although I was worried I might damage something. Now I'm happy I can complete the installation of my towbar. £70 all in, bargain
