confused HELP!!! Calling Computer Guru's!!! HELP!!!

Can ANYONE help me with this little now BIG problem I have with the home PC...

The Computer specs can be found at -

    http://www.ciao.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_M5...#productdetail

Now, the problem is... We ALL hate Vista, so tried to install Windows XP SP2. However, the OS has loaded fine, but it cant find the Ethernet bits and there's no sound... So without ethernet cant get on Internet to driver update etc... Tried using the Motherboard CD, but I havent got a clue what I'm looking for!! It's all in some weird computer folder language!

    Any ideas???

Go to system and check it's not disabled, then open network connections and see if there is anything in there, load Zone Alarm and it will config the net for you auto.

I take it you have a pc now (ergo posting on here), go to http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...TOKEN=68607879 and download the required rivers.

Once downloaded transfer via memory key (USB) and run the files. Best way I can think for you tbh

On the CD that you mentioned... it should contain all drivers needed.
Right click "my pc" got to properties....go to harware tab, click on devises...all divices without a driver should have a question mark on yellow...that is what you need.
Right click on one of them...choose "update driver", skip the first screen where it asks for windows update. Place the CD on the drive and make the computer look for the driver needed by specifing it to look at the drive where the CD is. It should find the driver itself within the CD.
Repeat for the othe yellow question marks that you see.

failing that, you need to go onto another (work?) PC & download the network driver (ACER website ?), once this is on you can surf for anything else req.

sound that wont load on xp is usually ac97 audio, look for that on net or cd. You can get a usb/ethernet adapter very cheap (on ebay) useful when onboard ethernet not easy to install. Gets you on the net to download all updated drivers.
