    Default please help!

could someone please help me. I have recently received an air bag for my vectra 2.0 dti 52 plate which has one socket as the wrong airbag was fitted it had two sockets on the rear of it. the problem now is when i went to have it fitted this morning. the white prongs on the rear are too far apart to slot into the steering wheel they are 132mm apart and the one that was fitted that was incorrect with two sockets. the white prongs are 125mm apart which is the correct distance. can anyone please advise. steering wheel is 4 spoke thanx

Thats strange...all 4-spoke wheels should be the same and so should be airbags! Do have any images of old "V" new, someone on here can do a comparison and let you know for sure whats going on!

Think you need to post up some pics and the part numbers of the airbags

    Pic1 orginal two phase airbag
    pic2 replacement airbag
pic3 head on of steering wheel with airbag removed

Never had any problems when I had a silmiliar issue so there must be something else wrong, maybe wrong steering wheel. Could be you have a facelift steering fitted. Not sure if thats possible tho.
Do you have the 3 button radio controls on the wheel or one with wheel and buttons?

Someone has really had you over when they repaired the car before you got it

Have u checked the passenger side airbag yet?

I know for a fact trying to get a single phase airbag for the Vectra C is like trying to find rocking horse poo

hi i have received car back i was unable to load all pics as i dont know how to reduce file size all above 100kb anyway the photo i have managed to upload is the back plate. the white prongs on the correct airbag with one socket is definately futher apart than the incorrect one that was fitted. on the above pic the pins that dont move to the left can they be removed as the airbag would then probably fit or can you purchase different steel backing plates. any advice would be greatly appreciated cheers patrick

Not so - air bags before 2003.05 had one plug, after that they had two plugs - both on three and four spoke wheels, so the airbags do vary on four spoke wheels.

patrick - I got kinda confused with your post. You have a 52 plate with a four spoke which has one connector in the wheel. You had the wrong airbag fitted previously - it being a two plug airbag? (I kinda remember the thread now).

So do you now have a single plug four spoke airbag and you now have this problem?

It could be that the metal plate is different between two plug and single plug airbags, and what's on yours is the double plug one from having the previous wrong airbag on.

Let me check some things to see if I can clarify.
