    Default Knocking Noise from Suspension

Have had the anti-roll bar links replaced all round, to cure the clunking noise. The garage admitted before they did it that this was a first step; the noise is much less frequent now and no longer seems to be caused by vertical movement of the suspension, but there is an occasional knock from the front when turning the wheels at low speed....anyone have a good idea of what could need replacing next? Please don't everyone just list every suspension component they happen to know the name of though...lol.

All the components have been checked visually by the garage whilst up on a ramp, no problems visible, including shocks. They changed the drop links as that's the most common cause, not because they looked like they needed it.

That's my best guess out of the window then

Is it definitely suspension noise? I recall some members a while back had issues with radiator mounts causing a knocking noise....

Def suspension....same noise as faulty drop links cause, just much less frequent now and no longer caused by speed bumps.

Bit of a long shot....but are you sure its not the exhaust?? Worn bush's may be causing it to hit the body? Sometimes its what you least suspect? Worth a try!!

Right the most common "knocks" from the front are

    Drop links (Done)
radiator mounts (can sound like suspension )
    front anti roll bar bushes
but my favourite guess would be the front spring seat mods (if these were done a while ago they may need doing again as they do wear through )

If the steering feels fine then i doubt it would be any thing to do with the steering rack ( although we do know they eat through the steering arms )

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

I know what you mean, everytime I turned right on one of my old cars I got a metallic dull thud...after 1/2hr of looking with a torch on a winters nite I found a piece of metal - like a metal hockey puck - not from the car!
