Hmmm, could be a few things - I am no expert though:

    Heater matrix
    Broken Dial or linkage
    Head Gasket?

Is there any damp/fluid in the front footwells?
Whats the water level/coolant level like?

Hi Mate. On the hot water supply to heater matrix there is an electronic valve that shuts the water supply off to the matrix which then lets it cool down and in turn blows cold air. It sounds like this valve is not closing due to a fault with the valve or the signal getting to it from the heater control switch.

think iv found the problem after taking the time to search the forum, iv taken the govle box out and when i turn the dial the red lever isnt moving, i removed the red lever and turned it with a screw driver and the cold air is coming through. having reconnected it its still not moving. Does this mean theres a faul;t in the actual control panel of the blowers? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

if you have a multi meter and you know how to use it then test the power supply to the water control valve and also the control switch. Also have a look at fuses but I would be more inclined to fault the valve than anything else.

The servo is the thing in the glove box that you moved manually. The arm moving up and down either opens or closes the water control valve. This valve is opened or closed with the servo which is attached to the said arm you moved. It is held in with 2 screws and a connecting rod. Remove the 2 screws, the connecting rod and the connecting power block and remove for testing. Test the connecting wires to see if there is a live feed to the servo. Also if you know how to or know someone who can use a multimeter then test the resistance of the servo and also the output from the power supply. Hope this helps

Just had this same problem, removed glove box and found red leaver not moving when temp control dial turned, bought new unit and fitted, worked a treat, Out of curiosity stripped old unit down (can be done by carefully prising up small clips) removed plastic gears and prised out motor unit and plug housing , to find small set of pickup contacts on the reverse side of the larger gear, cleaned them up with a clean cloth and then rebuilt the unit and tried it by plugging it back in and hey presto it works.
Moral of tale : make sure it is broke before you by a new one.
