    Cool Drinky's Workshop

The man who is a legend in his own lifetime agreed to help me out the other day, having only just woken up after a night shift he was straight under my car to replace springs, dampers and brakes all round, and fit an SRi steering wheel in place of the standard Elite one. Not only did he get it all done in an afternoon on his driveway in the middle-of-nowhereshire with a battalion of flies attacking constantly, he was nearly late for work too!

Tony (Caterman) turned up towards the end, and lent an extra pair of hands too. Thanks Tony

The pretty yellow Bilstein B6 dampers - compared to the original standard Vx one... Look how much thicker it is! In Drinky's own words.. "that's a beast!"

And the Eibach spring compared to the standard Vx one - just a bit of difference! Drinky quote from that.. "gosh... that's a bit shorter, isn't it!"

Grooved discs all round, just because they're cool , standard Vx pads at the back and EBC Red Stuff pads on the front.

And what a difference!!!! The drive home was like a different car. I've got the confidence in the car now to give it some beans and not worry that it will wobble off the road, and even though the brakes haven't bedded in properly yet, it's obvious already that they're sooooo much better than what was fitted (presumably the aftermarket disc & pad kit).

On my previous car, an SRi, I only replaced the springs and left the SRi dampers as they were. I can tell the difference already between the B6 dampers and the SRi ones - the B6's are smoother, more controlled and give a much better ride. If you can afford to upgrade (£500ish for the set ) it's well, well worth it.

It's settling nicely on the new springs now, give it another couple of days to settle properly and I'll post some pics.

Drinky, you're a top geezer thanks
