    Default Drilled Discs

Any drilled their own discs? It was mentioned in the pub at lunch today and was wondering if anyone has done it and did it have much benefit?

Trouble with drilled Discs is Cracking,(Just to make clear, I mean Drilling all the way through as Per Drinky) Not during the process of drilling but with Heat & age. The benifits of drilled discs is the removal of dust etc off the Pads making them bite better & cooling..
    Oh yes & the Looks..

Ebc used to sell drilled disc's but now sell Spotted due to cracking.
Spot drilled discs look & work just as good & don't crack

I have been drilling my own discs for over ten years and touch wood never had a problem with them the trick is to NOT drill them right through and yes it does make a difference !!!!!!

I thought drilled was to help get rid of hot gasses so the pad doesn't "float", and grooved did the same but also cleaned the pad face?

Mmm... this sounds interesting. can you give me some details on this and a pic if you have one? Have you done like a spotted one or have actual holes through the disc?

The answer's in his post m8

I looked into this quite a lot, but from what I read it's possible that dimples will eventually cause uneven wear on the brake pads.
