Default Where has clay been all my life! I'm Gob smacked!!

Following on from this thread http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=53580 and after seing the results on my 2 year old Vectra, i really wanted to have a bash at the missus Black L reg Peugeot 306.

As we use it as the main runaround, it hasn't been washed for at least 4-5 months, hasn't been polished in over a year, and is outside in all weathers, being hit by all the elements including loads of tree sap as where we live must have once been a forest so a lot of the trees remain, plus the added bonus of living only 5 minutes from Gatwick so we've got all the cr4p the planes chuck out!

Did the usual 2 bucket method and gave it a wash. Dried it off then clayed it. Then a coat of Auto Glym Super Resin. I've not bothered giving it a coat of sealant as we are thinking of selling or scrapping it before then end of the year. (It's getting a bit tired now with 126,000 on the clock and needs a few bits doing). Unfortunately, i wasn't able to bring the faded patches on the roof back to life, no matter how much cutting compund i used, but it does have a shine believe it or not and is smooth as glass.

Needless to say, Michelle is over the moon with the results, as am I.

So here are the results folks. What ya reckon?

CLAYED, POLISHED, PLASTICS AND TYRES TREATED

Brilliant job done there. Claying is amaizing isn,t it, Well worth the effort, great to see all the muck that comes off onto the clay. I bet your other half is very pleased with all your hard work. The motor has come up a treat.

G, you gotta try it mate.

It's basically what it says it is, clay. But not the plasticine stuff. It removes all the contaminents from the paint that washing alone will not do. When you wash your car next and have dried it off, put your hand inside a plastic sandwich bag and run your finger tips over the paintwork. You'll feel all the gritty contaminents that are stuck to your paint work. The clay simply removes them giving you an outstanding finish which is like glass to touch.

I used this http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index...&productId=230 together with this http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index...&productId=193.

The Quick Detailer acts as a lubricant when you use the clay bar. Simply soak the area you are going to clay with the QD and using light pressure, move the clay bar back and forth. You'll actually here the clay bar removing the contaminents from the paint, sounds a bit like sand paper, then all of a sudden it will go silent, meaning that the paint work is clean.

Once you've clayed the whole car, give it a coat of polish, i used Auto Glym Super Resin, followed by Poorboys EX-P sealant which does what it says, seals the polish to stop it from washing off. For an extra shine you can also add a glaze which i'll be doing to mine next. I've got Meguiars #16.

This video is very helpful and quiet amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfEfL...eature=related

    Hope this helps.
