Default I'm after a toy / track car.

I'm thinking of buying myself a new toy, maybe for a few track days etc. The wife would be using it for work etc and I'll be taking it for a blast round a track when I can.

What's everyone's views on the Mitsubishi FTO 2.0 24V Tiptronic? I've had a good chat with a friend of a friend who used to own one (before writing it off) and used to be an active member of the FTO forums and I'm seriously considering one now -

    I didn't know they did a 3.0, I thought the 2.0 24v V6 was the biggest engine.

    They sound absolutely awesome!!!!

Never been much of a fan of the FTO (never driven one). But that one looks really nice.

well youve got to decide which takes priority.... a comfortable, cheap, reliable drive for everyday (your wife) or pure fun when it comes to track days. The two dont always match up and i think thats the case with the FTO. Nice car for the road, but not much fun on a track. Personally, for the track, i think you want something small, lightweight, extremely chuckable or even better, something with lots of power, rear wheel drive and forgiving. With that in mind, i'd go for either a saxo VTS or a Sapphire Cosworth, both can be picked up for less than 5K and will garuntee smiles on track days whilst being reasonable on the road. Heck, even battered impreza Turbos can be got for £4K now.

I see what your saying Andy. But I do love the look of the FTO, and the sound of it mmmmmm.

Saxo VTS - I've seen too many chav'd up Saxo's so that's put me off them. But yeah I know they go like stink.

Sapphire Cossie - wouldn't be able to justify it to the boss

Scooby - I would but I'd want a clean one with traceable history

I have been looking at Lancer Evo II or III. These can be picked up for less than 4k.

2.0 i'm sure is the biggest, the gto 3ltr twin turbo is a beast though... I had a 2.0 fto for a while, was a lot of fun, but the one you want is the gpx and not the gr.... i think its the one with all the mivec stuff on it and is quicker
