Default Am i getting ripped off

    Hi All,

My car still has a manufactures warranty until January 2009.
I bought my car in October 2006, the network q warranty ran out October 2007 .Vauxhall sent me a renewal notice back in October for a further year at £19.90 per month which I took up as this seemed cheap as breakdown cover was included.
So is it better to have both warranties or would I have been better of just having the manufactures warranty.

Can't complain if you are covered on both accounts, if you ONLY got it for the breakdown cover then its a touch expensive, you can get breakdown stupidly cheaper than that.

Normally the Network Q warranty applies AFTER the manufacturers warranty expires
That's what happened on all my previous purchases, and also applies to my current purchase

Note that it only applies to the FIRST year of the original warranty
If you purchase on Network Q, then the second and third year options are no longer valid

Whats the point in having 2 warranties, do you insure your car twice ?

There aren't two warranties, they are all one!
If car is sold on Network Q then it comes with the balance of the Manufacturers warranty and then the Network Q warranty applies on the balance
In some cases the Network Q warranty never applies

Here are some examples, for a sale on 01 August 2008 under Network Q

    A :
June 2008 Vectra on 3000 miles, under original warranty to May 2009

    B :
October 2006 Vectra on 25000 miles, under original warrant to September 2008

With car A, the original warranty applies to May 2009
The Network Q warranty then applies from June 2009 to July 2009
The second year option does NOT apply

With car B, it is already on its second year option
The Network Q warranty then applies from October 2008 to July 2009

It was the same with my own car, purchased in November 2007
It was under its second year option to June 2008
The Network Q warranty would have applied to November 2008
However, I upgraded it to the Complete Protection Plan, so the Network Q warranty will never apply
