    Default Paying Fines..?

This is for people who drive for a living ? whats your company policy on fixed penalty notices and fines etc...We had a junior manager not long ago who drove through a red light it was his first offence with our company and they duly paid his £60 fine, but stressed that any more offences and he will have to pay himself but the thing that gets me is on a separate occasion another driver(not me) who got a FPN for speeding was told that they will NOT be paying his fine...now i don't like the sound of this one...What i'm after is your opinions on this one.

I have had a parking fine paid for before but I am 100% sure they would not pay for a red light/speeding offence.

My opinion is you can't really expect a company to pay for an offence you have commited. If they do great!

Well i drive for national express and its quite clear that once your on the road any infringements or fines are down to us ie speeding, seat belts, road rage lol etc. I think most places are like this now especially big companies.

We return the FPN along with a copy of the daily driving log, drivers full name, address, date of birth, and driving licence number

So far all FPNs issued on company vehicles have been resolved

Most haulage companies i have worked for will pay all "unavoidable" fines..

EG: You have 26 pallets to a Builders merchants on a Red Route in London, You have no choice.
Box Junction fines most of the time will get paid in London, as they can be unavoidable

Speeding fines however, there is no excuse for and i have never heard of any company paying a fine for a driver caught for that, or Mobile phone fines.

I think it depends on each individual circumstance, or if the bloke who gets caught likes the taste of sh!t and licks the bosses Chocolate Starfish!

    Well get this then...

Any parking tickets to be paid by the driver, yet most of the shops i pick up from have double yellow lines outside.
So told my boss that if thats the case i wont be going there...

In the case of delivery companies or a service industry including fire and ambulance services, the driver is responsible for avoidable fines (speeding, seat belts or use of mobile phones). Parking fines when there is no other alternative most decent companies will pay up to a certain point, eg if you get a ticket in the same place every day they will investigate to see if there is another solution to the problem.
Bottom line is if it is your fault you pay the fine, although this situation does look to be strange. If they pay one persons speeding ticket irrespective of the reason for speeding they should pay every ones ticket.
I work for a large parcel delivery firm. (Orange and white vans)
That is just my humble opinion.
