Default Can anyone get rid of steering light on dashboard???

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help with diagnosing a problem on my Vectra (02 2.2 SRi). The steering warning light (the symbol's just a steering wheel) has been on for approx 2 years now, but I'm after selling it now and would like to get rid of it. When it first came on I called out an auto technician who said his equipment didn't show any problems, then I took it to Vauxhall who said it was 'probably' my power steering pump and would need replacing for a cost of £850. 2 years on the power steering pump is fine. Tried it in another local garage yesterday one last time - he ran it through his machine and then called out another auto electrician who spent 4 hours looking at it and concluded it must be a faulty computer somewhere, but because there are some many of them it would be like looking for a needle in haystack and suggested it would only be vauxhall who could fix it but could cost a lot. Has anyone had any similar problems or any suggestions as to how to get the light off (without taking the bulb out!!!) as I'm sure it will put any prospective buyers off. Cheers

Thanks for the reply - not sure what fault code came up, if any....from what they were saying nothing was coming up which is why they thing it must be a faulty computer - don't know if I've just been fobbed off or not though.....

I think they may have fobbed you off, chances are they diagnostic equipment wouldnt access that area of the veccy and they were stumped.. get it read by someone who has the kit and you'll be half there

OK thanks for the help - maybe I'll give local breakers a visit.....I'm in two minds whether to get it sorted or not - would it put people off buying if the light was on??? It's just had service and other than the light being on everything else is in good nick?

    Default Power steering

    Hi
I have also had this problem. The icon of the steering wheel with an exclamation mark. It usualy comes on if I pull out of a side road a bit quick, usualy a right hand turn. I dont drive fast but the main road I live off is very busy and you have to put your foot down a bit when joining it. The power steering fluid level was fine, I just assume that somtimes when you go round a corner the level drops a bit, exposing the sensor
