    Question front windscreen wipers

    hi Guys.
all of a sudden my front windscreen wipers do not go down to the park position whilst on the intermittent program, they stick half way across the windscreen. I have tried a different relay (brown square block) and the fuses are ok. Has anybody had this problem or can anybody help me. regards and thanks.

I think the motors on Vec's can be suspect.

    Time for the stealers!!

    Yep, common fault I'm afraid.

It's a faulty motor, definitely covered under warranty if yours is still in force...

As your car wouldn't be covered under warranty then have a look on ebay as there is one for sale on there, he's a member on here and has a wiper motor for sale, here you go................

    Default Wipers

    Hi
I have a Vectra C 2003, for some reason the wipers dont just stop at the bottom of the screen when you switch them off, or between intemittant strokes. They go to the bottom and the 'JUST' start to move back up for another stroke. It only does it a little bit, they park 1/2 inch from the bottom in like a "bounce" action. It quite anoying, as a quick fix I loosened the nuts on the wiper arms and moved the arms down a bit so that when they do move 1/2 inch up after parking, they are where they should be. The only problem with this is when they are on fastest speed, they clunk the bottom a little. Could this be the self park switch on the motor?

    Thanks
    Pete

    Default Wipers

Saying all that though, it might just be easier if I ask, is it possible to service the wipers self park switch which is located right next to the motor, at the drive gear? Has anybody ever un-done a motor assembley where the worm gear is?

    Cheers

    Thumbs up front wipers

i had the same problem with mine i have an 03 vectra club, but on the intermittent program mine used to stop half way across the windscreen. i was advised that the motor situated under the palstis cover was a common fault. one of the guys on this forum had one for sale on ebay which i bought for 20 quid. to take the motor out isnt that tricky really. the tricky bit is to get the wipers to the correct position best thing is to take a photo first.

    Default Wipers

    Hi

Just thought I would let you know, incase anybody else has got this problem. I have fixed the problem I had with my front wipers. I thought it was the self park switch on the motor. Turns out it was just the mechanism and the motor were out of phase. The problem I was having is that when the wipers do a stroke, instead of just stopping at the bottom after the stroke, they would "bounce" and end up about 2 inches onto the screen again. I fixed this easily by loosening the nut on the motor's crank, then manualy manoover the mechanism so that the wipers were at the bottom of the screen where they should be parked. I then ran the motor "1 stroke" and as the nut was loose on the crank, the motors spindle turned without moving the mechanism. once the motor had stopped where it wanted to stop, I tightend the nut back up on the crank and this put the linkage and the motor back in phase. they now park nicely at the bottom of the screen

Sorry to Hi-jack this thread, but I figured it makes sense cos all the symptoms I'm suffering are disribed above... So simple question, I read this thread and thought right knackered motoer, so bought a new one on eBay and should be fitting it this weekend, I just happened to mention this to a bloke in my local garage and he said "you need a laptop to do that cos the car needs telling it's got a new wiper motor", I'm thinking this is a load of crap. Can someone please either agree with me or tell me he's right, if he is, what's the best course of action??

    Cheers

    Andy
