    Default Dealer Costs and Availability?

There are many on the site who carry out mods to our motors, collecting parts from various sources, and gathering and sharing info on How 2's.

Has anybody ever contacted the stealers, and confirmed their costs to carry out the work, and whether they would do the work at all.

I am thinking of, but not limited, to

    Rear electric windows
    Power Tailgate
    Auto dipping mirror
    Parking Sensors

Just a thought, because although it is cheaper gathering the bits together, we are all chasing the same parts!

Is your motor still under warrenty? as I asked my dealer about the TC switch. He said that fitting it would invalidate the warrenty I fitted it anyway. But it did not work.

It is under warranty, and I had the same with my TC switch, but fitted it anyway. It lights up, and looks better than a blank!

    That's a bit heavy

Iteresting to know, maybe we should put a list of prices together, and we can compare stealers.

Dealer labour rate is about £100 an hour. That alone would make it obvious IMO that they would work out more expensive than anywhere else...

And they'll only use new parts, which you'll have to pay full price for.

    STEP AWAY FROM THE DEALER...

It will always pay to source the parts yourself and not go anywhere near the dealer, unless you have to for small or cheap mods, like heated washer jets for £10 and the gsi air intake for £6,those are ok but anything electrical like the Auto-dim mirror and rear electric windows you'd be looking at ridiculous prices.....

So to echo what parapaul said Stay away from the Dealer......

I'd look for another dealership, my three local ones are between £45 and £65 per hour
    Also parts prices vary

Another option would be to get two quotes from autoeletricians, as most dealerships tend to contract this work out to a third party
My local dealership doesn't have an autoelectrician, which is barmy given the workload they farm out to the two contractors!
