Default Replacing CD30 with new standard kit

I have recently been stitched up by the dealership I bought my Vectra from. Despite me asking about 5 times if the Stereo would play MP3 cd's, it won't. I think the salesman just looked in the manual and mistakenly assumed it was the CD30 MP3 model, when its the base model CD30.

I know, I know. Never trust a salesman.

They have admitted guilt and will foot my bills for changing my stereo to one that will play MP3's, and I'd prefer the standart kit. (theiving little ***** live too close!)

My problem is this... They are under the impression that standard stereo systems are locked to each cars chassis number, and therefore I cannot simply swap it out for a CD30 MP3 at my local dealer.

I understand from this website that this is not the case, and that dealerships should have the software available to them to unlock systems from the chassis number. Is this correct?

How do I go about explaining this to a dealership? Whats the software they need to unlock this? The service manager at the vauxhall main dealer I bought it from is not aware that this is possible. Does anyone know of a dealership in my neck of the woods that has a clue?

Odd one! Any VX dealership should be fully aware of the protocol to follow to remove the current unit and replace it with the MP3 version - they have to unregister the current unit, remove it, insert the new one and register that to the car. Simple (with the right kit).

If you come up the M5 then I can introduce you to my dealer in Dudley who knows all these things.

Very strange. This is real basic stuff as above.

My Brother in law has just had the same thing happen but with a Zafira. They took out the CD30 and replaced it with a CD30 Mp3.

Should be very straightforward with Tech2 - de-register the CD30, insert CD30MP and register it to the car.

Thanks guys. I thought that was the case. Just think the Clitheroe Service Manager must be a bit dippy.

Gonna get myself down the Bristol one tomorrow and see if they're any different!

They need to go to the EHU section on Tech2 and disable theft protection which unpairs it from the car. New one inserted and enable theft protection. Job done

Will a CD30 mp3 from either an Astra or Zafira fit into a Vectra?

..... are they the same unit?

Check they have the same style of dash. As the shape of the CD30 differs sometimes between car models.

Are they going to supply the HU? If not get one from here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Radio-Blaupunk...d=p3286.c0.m14
Lois Griffin: Peter! You're bribing your daughter with a car?
Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?
