    Default Window "chrome" hazing

    HI
newbie to the site and i need help!

Car was recently in body shop, since getting it back last week have noticed that the window chromes are now hazey, like cloudy.

Insurance repair job assessor stated that is was lacquer and that the garage need to replace all panels affected.
Garage state that its the shampoo that the drive thru jetwashes use and that it eats away at the aluminium, (as it is not chrome).

They showed me another vectra that was awating repair, and it was worse than mine. Who do I believe?
Does anyone know which is correct?
    cheers peeps

It's a known problem, the trim is a chrome foil under a piece of clear plastic and water gets between the layers making it go cloudy. It's possible the body shop used a harsh chemical like traffic film remover prior to repairs to stop any contamination of the new paint and this has damaged the trim.Fight for the replacement as these are around 300 quid from Vx.

The black ones crop up on ebay or on here sometimes, thats the cheapest option or it's back to Vx,mine being silver the chrome tends to blend in so i went for a contrast, also it's cheaper to go dark!
