Claying

Is it worthwhile claying a Star Silver motor. What I mean is is it worth doing a silver car as the shine/effort doe's not show up as good as dark colours as per the recent post on detailing pictures today.

I have got a silver motor and I have clayed and given mine the "full works" and it looks very good. In fact my motor won the Judges Prize in one of the club competions that Vectra-c organised at the PVS this year. I must admit a nicely detailed black motor will stand out far more than a nicely detailed silver motor. But Yes do give your motor a good detailing, it will be worth it.

I did my star silver Veccy and could not believe the finish and shine i got,well worth the effort m8............

as above mate well worth it then get some good sealant then a collinite wax .dont let people say you cannot shine silver cars

Oh, and i hope Lofty doesn't see those pics, he'd be in his element with all those cables!!

What a shine. If thats what claying doe's then I'm off to buy some this week end. Just need to read up on how to do it, in the how to do it section.

Thanks Glenboy I will try it after seeing how good it was on Johnny's motor.

I will post some before and after pictures when I get the chance to do it.

Just completed my first claying, time taken to wash and rinse 15mins, time taken to clay 11/2 hrs as the finsh was not all that bad in the first place. Easy to tell when all the grit and the s*~^t have been removed as the clay floats over the suface when clear. Time to apply polish 1hr more of a liquid wax wash than a hard polish, then 1/2 hr to buff up. Result; mirror like surface, well pleased, did it in the drive way and lots of people stopped to enquire why was I rubbing a brick over the paintwork. Surprised how little clay used, daughter now on scrounge for left-overs for her 206.
