11 seconds ahead and going away from the field in Germany yesterday Hamilton was told to say out on his ever diminishing fuel load and ever less grippy tyres whilst the rest of the field headed for the pits under the Safety Car.

Net result when the race restarts he has to pit later at race speed so that he comes out behind Massa and Piquet.

"We thought he'd build up a bigger lead" from the strategists at McClaren was akin to deciding to use an old welly as the fuel hose.

Great that he won but even an iceberg lettuce which had just lost in the first round of the Salad Chess Championship to a a carrot called Colin could have called that one right.

I think they need to review the whole Safety car issue, If Your winning by a mile and the safety car is brought out you instantly lose all the time and lead you've built up how is that fair? its happened to Hamilton a few times now where he's been leading by a vast amount and then the safety car is brought out and everyone fights to pit and get out in the lead!! after all Isn't this what caused him to go into the back of the boring Mr monotone a few races ago?? and end up being punished in the race after and put back several grid places..
Perhaps they were just playing safe yesterday to avoid being punished again for the slightest error.. Of course if we were talking about Ferrari this wouldn't be an issue would it... (the golden boys of F1 who make no mistakes...)

Not the worst pit stop planning ever seen in F1 though, that honour goes to Eddie Irvine's 1999 Ferrari season where they only brought 3 tyres out of the garage for him, and even when they realised the fourth was missing (after they'd taken all 4 old wheels off the car) did they run back inside and grab the missing wheel? Did they hell: "Hey Carlo, looka da over da here, there ees a wheel meesing" "No, that canna notta da be, show me, my friend" "There, you see, only da 3 wheels". Didnt the not allow cars through before, as in when the safety car came out everyone kept there place in line whether they were lapped or not? In fact It was the introduction of the safety car that lead to Senna's death.
