    Angry Need New Tyres :(

My 19's are currently sitting in my garage waiting until the alignment has been properly checked and sorted on this new Signum. I knew I was going to need 2 new front tyres before winter, that was fine, I've had 10k out of them so far, was expecting to get another 5k or so quite easily.

Just checked the treads on the 2 rear tyres, and BOTH have bluddy nails in! One is a proper nail in the shoulder of the tyre, the other is a shard of metal, also in the shoulder of the other tyre.

From reading previous threads, nails in the shoulder won't be repairable, and pulling the offending items out is just asking for trouble.

Well, that's just great, isn't it? Best part of £600 (which I really haven't got) for 4 new tyres, thank you very much!

Guess I'll be sticking with the Elite 17's for a while longer

Get some tyre insurance, although the latest policies are a bit rubbish
Wait 30 days then make a claim

I would take the nail/shard out as they may be smaller than you think. If they are then you have two good tyres then if not you still would have to replace them anyway. Falkens are £100 or so on Ebay. TBH I would not get the alignment checked until I had the 19's on anyway. Better the car set up for them than the 17's. You should get at least £200 for the elites if you sell them on, more if the tyres are ok

Not bad - £95 each instead of £130... Anyone know anything about Falken tyres? Slightly dubious as they're even cheaper than the Nankang 'ditchfinders'...

Hmmm... Never heard of tyre insurance - I'll investigate...

£200 would be a big help, and all 4 tyres were brand new, so only got a few hundred miles on.

Few things to think about, thanks guys
