Default Personal plates in Fife - oh, and Arnold Cack too.

Is it something about the people in Fife?, or was it just sheer coincidence?

Been up in Fife since Friday, back down to NE on Monday, and noticed an awful lot of personal plates on cars - more, in proportion, than I've ever noticed elsewhere. Hadn't really noticed it before when I've been up, just this time. Not just Vectras, but I spotted a few with them on, but all cars in general.

Just an observation BTW, not any sort of 'criticism' - just wondered if Fifers are more into personalising their cars?

Also, is Arnold Cack pretty much the only choice that a lot of people have for cars up here? - in terms of places to buy from. Every other car seemed to have come from them and have the 'orrible yellow and black sticker slapped on the outside of the rear screen. Again, not just Vx's but all different makes.

On another note, for those that know the area, the A915 between Leven and St Andrews is a great road. Once you get through Upper Largo it just opens up and is a fantastic drive with some nice straights and twisties - certainly gave me a chance to stretch the legs of the Signum. Same with the A916 up to Cupar - very similar sort of road. Was by myself when I went on that one today, so was able to drive it somewhat 'more progressively' than the other road as I'd had Jane and Cameron in the car on those occasions.

The high volume of personalised number plates in Scotland is probably due to the lower living costs and people in Scotland not knowing what to do with their spare cash, so rather than invest it in thebankthatsgoingtogoPOP at least by investing it in a private plate the money is pretty much secure

As for Arnold Clark, almost every major franchise dealer is a branch
However, they only account for about 50%
Arnold Clark then have two cheaper outlets, one they acquired a few years ago and are non-franchise dealers, the other used to be MRL

They don't pay me to advertise their company or services, so the first thing I do is make sure their logo is not on the numberplate and remove the sticker
I even make it a point in the sales contract, that if the car already has a numberplate with their advertising or requires a replacement, that it is replaced with a plain one showing their postcode only
I then place a blanking sticker over it!

EM........... coming from Fife, and knowing that......... well.............. its a dive, I have to say that I doubt the above statement "not knowing what to do with their spare cash", is true! Perhaps in other parts of Scotland, but defo not Fife!

Any spare cash here usually goes towards little Chantelle's new Timberland boots and jacket combo (spelt - TIMBALANT) or her mums new Elizabeth Duke Diamonique knuckle duster!.

Kinross and Perthshire are high with regards to private plates

Oh and Arnold Clark own Fife!
Just try setting up your own dealership I dare you!

You'll be found down a deep hole, naked, with a tennis ball in your mouth and an Arnold clark flag sticking out your ar*e..........
    you have bin warned!

    I was in Fife today
I have to agree, not very many personalised number plates, compared to other areas of Scotland
I did notice one silver Vectra with two numbers and two letters for a personalised number plate

Never mind trying to get a Fifer to part with cash, broaden that to any Scotsperson, either born, living, or resident in Scotland
Equally though, only a fool is parted with their money

Didn't the Curtin Motors in Glenrothes get sold to Arnold Clark?

I remember the one in Cupar, excellent facilities, but I couldn't find any sales people when I went in...
There were no members of staff anywhere!
